Serenity AI Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Serenity AI mobile application and related services ("Serenity", "Service", "we", "our", "us").
By using Serenity, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Scope of Service
Serenity is a digital self-help and wellness application that provides structured CBT-style tools, check-ins, guided content, and AI-assisted support features.
Serenity is not a medical provider, psychiatric service, emergency service, or crisis-response hotline.
2. Eligibility and Account Responsibility
To use Serenity, you must:
- meet the minimum age and legal requirements in your jurisdiction and app store,
- provide accurate account information where required,
- keep your login credentials secure,
- be responsible for all activity under your account.
You may use supported authentication methods such as anonymous sign-in, Google, email/password, and phone verification.
3. Health, Medical, and Crisis Disclaimer
Serenity content and AI responses are informational and educational only and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Do not rely on Serenity for emergency or urgent care decisions.
If you may harm yourself or others, or are in immediate danger:
- call local emergency services immediately,
- contact a local crisis line,
- in the United States and territories, you may call or text 988.
4. AI Features and Limitations
Serenity may provide AI-generated outputs, including chat responses, summaries, or guidance.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your situation,
- AI outputs are not professional advice and must be independently evaluated by you,
- you are solely responsible for decisions and actions taken based on AI outputs.
Serenity supports both on-device and cloud AI processing paths. Cloud processing may involve third-party AI providers depending on your settings and subscription.
5. Voice Input Features
If you enable voice input:
- you grant permission for microphone/speech access as required by your device platform,
- audio may be transcribed into text and used as chat input,
- transcripts are treated as user content under these Terms.
You may disable voice features or revoke device permissions at any time.
6. Subscriptions, Entitlements, and Billing
6.1 Free and paid access
Serenity provides free and paid feature tiers. Certain functionality is restricted unless you have an active paid entitlement.

Standalone program entitlements may also be available (for example, program-specific access).
6.2 Billing
In-app purchases, renewals, and billing are processed by your platform store and related payment processors, not directly by Serenity.
Your subscription renews automatically unless canceled according to your store account settings.
6.3 Trials and promotions
Free trials or promotional pricing may be offered at times and are governed by store configuration and local law.
6.4 Feature gating and limits
Feature availability may vary by tier and may include limits in free plans (for example, message/session usage caps). Limits and product packaging may change over time.
7. Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds and cancellations are governed primarily by Apple App Store and Google Play policies, plus any mandatory rights under applicable law.
Where required by law, we will honor statutory refund/cancellation rights.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, harassing, or abusive purposes,
- attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or compromise app/service integrity,
- upload malware, automate abuse, or bypass access controls/rate limits,
- use the Service to generate, distribute, or promote prohibited content or illegal activities,
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
We may monitor abuse signals and enforce restrictions to protect users and the Service.
9. User Content
You retain ownership of content you provide to Serenity (for example, chat entries, responses, and optional exports).
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, and use your content solely to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to provide your content and that your content does not violate law or third-party rights.
10. Exporting and Sharing Data
Serenity may allow export of certain data to local files and optional sharing through device/system share tools.
You are solely responsible for:
- where exported files are stored,
- whom you share them with,
- security and confidentiality after export or sharing.
11. Privacy
Our data practices are described in PRIVACY_POLICY.md, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy about data handling, the Privacy Policy controls for privacy-specific matters.
12. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in Serenity (excluding your content), including software, design, branding, and materials, are owned by Serenity AI or its licensors and protected by applicable laws.
You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
13. Third-Party Services
Serenity integrates third-party services (for example Firebase, RevenueCat, app stores, AI providers, and platform notification systems).
Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and privacy notices. Serenity is not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.
14. Service Availability and Changes
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, including to maintain security, comply with law, or improve reliability.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
15. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if:
- you violate these Terms,
- your use poses security/legal risk,
- required by law or competent authority.
You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not automatically cancel app store subscriptions; cancellation must be completed through your store account.
16. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Serenity is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Serenity AI and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data loss, or business interruption arising from or related to the Service.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Serenity AI from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from:
- your misuse of the Service,
- your violation of these Terms,
- your infringement of law or third-party rights.
19. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable laws determined by Serenity AI’s operating jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country require otherwise.
If a dispute arises, both parties agree to first attempt good-faith resolution through support channels before initiating formal proceedings, where legally permitted.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material updates may be communicated through the app or official channels. Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the revised Terms.

22. Language Notice
Serenity supports many languages. These Terms may be translated for convenience. In case of conflict between translations, the English version controls unless local law requires otherwise.
